I imagine he is just very busy, very very busy! If there was a way to easily see when someone last logged in, then you might at least know if someone was probably reading messages, but not having the time to reply. (As is the case on some forums.) I know myself I've been so busy at times I've not ha...

> So why haven't they? Electric cars are available, and always > have been. A very good question. 20 years ago Sinclair tried with his C5, and whilst it sold 1,000 a month, he really wanted to sell 50,000 a month, so the product was shelved. Back then, petrol wasn't too expensive, the bus was cheap,...

But your be glad to hear they met all their government targets :-) One of my favourites was the delivery time target, something like 1 hour, but thats only from ordering to delivery to the warehouse, the time you wait in the queue at the warehouse to pick up the item you ordered could well be anothe...

> London might pick up on them fast, but how many people there drive > as opposed to using mass transit? Despite the costs? There is more to the UK than just London :-) Ok, so we only have 60 million people living here, but still, I reckon thats a big enough market to develop something, after all, w...

I can't remember if I've told this story or not here, but once when I was working in a government department my manager was telling me that we was due to spend a morning sorting a list, by hand! Yes, thats right, printing out a list, cutting every line into strip of paper, and then hand sorting thou...

I'm a great fan of threaded messaging myself, having used it in the majority of forums I'm in for the last 15 years, going back to this kinda very old fashioned approach is tedious.

> Your wrong in thinking that the poor will be the worst affected > from combating climate change, maybe the poor in the US > but not the global poor Does being in the UK count as global poor ? Here with electric and gas prices having gone up 50% in a short space of time, us poor (I'm poor, I can sp...

> 2 hours on foot is 30mins by bicycle. True, I am in the process of teaching my girlfriend to ride a bike, but even if she did so, traffic is so bad here, she'd probably end up in an accident pretty quick like. (Plus I reckon it would be better if I drove/cycled her to work and back in a 3 wheeler ...

Yes, look how selfish traffic lights have become, getting us to wait longer and longer for them...

If the politicans listened more to what the likes of you and your lot (engineers) had to say, I think we'd do a better job of things.

Its not perfection I'm after, its people doing a decent job. The more profit is involved in that, the less it happens. (I know in theory your supposed to sack the bad workers and employ better ones, but in practice, the bad ones are cheaper to employ..) Though it also happens when you have governmen...

> Are there complaints? Sure! but what are people going to do about it.. My girlfriend walks 2 hours a day to work and back and her other workers think her kinda-weird for doing that, as they reply 'no one walks today with buses, trains!' as if to do so is free somehow.. But then, they are being pai...
