There are no ways to generate constant 1 gee acceleration for more than a few minutes while using propellant. For space travel to enter its golden age and finally become safe, quick, convenient and economical, we have to have a "space drive" as defined by Marc Millis in his original BPP work. http:...

Hi Paul, Sorry, I wasn't very clear, was I? I remember you posting a while back that there would likely be a lot more to come once Jim got round to switching to a more promising type of cap. Do I misremember? Has Jim already switched? 150 uN is an order of magnitude above the 10-20 uN we were heari...

Jim has only said that the focus right now is to match the electrical and mechanical resonances in order to promote higher thrust. He and Heidi only just begun this and Heidi generated thrusts twice as high as any Jim has in all these years. Note too, Jim is on vacation until late September, so we ...

I would note that although Mach Effect requires acceptance of mass/inertia fluctuations, it does not require further acceptance of the reality of the "warp term," which implies ability to create negative mass with GI fluctuations.

Now either the coupling efficiency with your far off reaction mass with the rest of the universe declines the higher the difference in velocity you have with the preferred reference frame (good by principle of relativity) or you can magically allways efficiently couple with some far off reaction ma...

Then again, it's not like you'd expect to see a paper and talk if it were detailing how years of anomalous thrust results were due to experimental error--unless that error was 'interesting' in another way!

Re: My Daughter Went To A Ron Paul Rally

Time is on my side. The question being is - will there be enough time? Demographically, of course, the answer is NO. Social liberals, your own personal fecudity not withstanding, tend to average about 0.8 children per woman while conservatives average 3. Those who are neither fall in the American a...

Let me suggest that both the "future is libertarian" and the "future is Victorianism" are both wrong. Msimon is right that Santorum types cannot put the genies of the Revolution back in the bottle. But he is wrong thatif the result went the other direction this would be anything but a temporary vict...

April 30 is next recovery report.... but that is flimsy for the last few reports because of the "Final Report" checkbox being split personality. Reminder folks, the only actual report that is required to be released is one confirming that the money has been spent -- i.e. that EMC2 completed the con...

GIThruster, i remain troubled by the specific charge that there is a math error right in plain sight at the beginning of Woodward's derivation. I am clearly not a physicist but this charge, and specifically that it stems from incorrectly setting Phi as a variable has been leveled by numerous physic...

The one little tidbit I'll offer is that they no longer leave their garage bay door open. Evidently some people were nosy! Other than that, I'll say it is really shiny. And that's all you get from me. My theory on "shininess" which also covers why the funds are being used so slowly; shortly after a...

Re: New Polywell Paper

The U of Sydney team has written another Polywell paper. This one is impressive, it uses theory and simulations to investigate confinement inside the reactor. http://pop.aip.org/resource/1/phpaen/v18/i11/p112501_s1 Great paper. They really ought to have given a cite to Indrek Mandre's simulation wo...

I wouldn't try to read between the lines too much, as tempting as it is with our dearth of information. What we've heard in terms of results is that confinement is "excellent." We've also heard funding is tight, so it's not surprising Rick might be off doing something else. I've been following this...

Glad to see Rick's keeping busy. People here tend to forget he had been doing all sorts of research for decades before the Polywell contract. If the Navy picks up WB-100 on the basis of the excellent confinement reported for WB-8, I wouldn't be surprised if we see him back at EMC2 in some role. Yes...
