Unless I am missing something, arn't carbon nanotubes essentially tubes of rolled up graphene?
Yes. a single, single-walled carbon nano tube is essentially a tube of rolled up graphene.

Just to help you cut through the crap.

I wonder if this is related to the Casimer effect in some way.

Everyone, take 30 mins of time and get a good read to the paper.

Apart from being an interesting mathematical speculation, I can consider it at maximum to be a special case of E=mc2 transformation.

Their working hypothesis will have to undergo some tough experimental checks. Lukily SWCNT are not that tough to obtain, so experiment could be underway in a matter of weeks if someone will be willing to take the challange.

I would not hold my breath for any "exceptional" results thought.
