The difference between a good and a bad patent is a lot of work (a few months or more).
The difference between a good and a bad idea is usually down to whether the proposers are prepared to do a lot of work, for months or more.

So, we have four alternatives.

They think that they have a very good idea (if they are right then it is a great discovery) but they don't want to apply for a patent because a ''marketable'' world is stifling and oppressive.

A Maxwell's Demon ?

Post by Aurobindo »

rcain wrote: as to the idea itself, a quick scan leaves me with the impression they are attempting to flout some major law of thermodynamics. but i haven't worked through in any detail, so that might be an unfair hunch.

certainly looks simple enough to build and test though. they should just do that before anything else, surely.
You are right: they think that they have discovered a Maxwell's demon.

1- Do you think that a Th+ (a higher temperature than the hot source) and a Tc- (a lower temperature than the cold sink) can "appear" ?
(without spending mechanical energy !!!!!!!!.....)

2- Is this really a new heat pump process or principle ?
(if it is... then it's very interesting to study, no ?)

3- What do you think about the efficiency of this heat pump ?

Even if this is not a Maxwell's demon (because in-cre-di-ble) do we have a new heat pump process?

Someone to answer these questions?

The document to study:

The International Conference on Renewable Energy Utilization (ICREU 2012) have seen the publication of this paper:
http://www.monotherme.com/pdf/research_ ... t_pump.pdf
This is now a peer reviewed and published "Maxwell's demon" !

Clausius theorem will have to be amended.
Do your best.
