Message displayed after redirect is "This site has stepped out for a bit".

Good/Bad news pending? Website redesign? Server hardware upgrade? Probably nothing major, but one can always hope.

Googling the phone number suggests GoDaddy took it down for a security fix.

I wonder if they even noticed? It is not like they update it very often.

And a quick check of www.emc2fusion.com gives:
This error (HTTP 403 Forbidden) means that Internet Explorer was able to connect to the website, but it does not have permission to view the webpage.

[edit] http://www.emc2fusion.org/ is working for me, but http://www.emc2fusion.com/ is giving "Directory Listing Denied", which means the index page is missing (or mis-named).

At least it's one of the nicer looking inaccessible messages. Somethings up, with what Ladago has heard I'd say we might be getting some news real soon!

Remember, EMC2 Fusion Development Corporation, the non-for-profit research organization with the purpose of obtaining funding for research is NOT the smae as EMC2 Incorporated, the FOR profit company that does research and seems to want to hold and market IP.

One could just as well argue that the loss of the site is a GOOD thing since it may suggest that EMC2 Inc has what they think to be a reliable funding source to finish its work.

That is kind of the point, why would you neglect a potential funding source unless said funding was covered by another means?

Just a speculation.

It's just a website. Websites get some downtime all the time.

Yup, that's me, ever hopeful in the absence of real information to the contrary. :D

Only, in this case the site is up but the index page is MIA.

emc2fusion.com is still showing "Directory Listing Denied", so there is no index page. We'd get a different error from IIS if the page was there but we didn't have permission to view it (either HTTP 401 or 403). We'd get yet another error if the site wasn't responding at all.

It's strange, but really what meaningful (WRT actual Polywell work) speculation can you make from it? It doesn't seem like there's a basis to favor a polywell-related cause over a mundane IT-related one. So far, anyway.
