JET passes break-even during preliminary testing

Post by JohnP »

After achieving "first plasma" in February, JET engineers have managed to leapfrog competing fusion technologies in the long race to net gain.

"Preliminary tests indicate measured net power gain of 150% with predicted gains of up to 15x with minor modifications."

nothing in the article about break even

Post by bcglorf »

The article linked doesn't say anything about break even conditions. It doesn't say much more than first plasma achieved and a bit about the restart process, hence given the date of the post I've quit looking any further.
