Good for them! I noticed that they have been doing some work on divertors. The recent super X divertor work at MAST will likely benefit them as well. Lots of synergies there. So I assume that this makes a lot of sense.
Really the UK, has been doing well lately in the fusion arena. One of the governments that seems most serious about this. Though others, like the US, China and Russia are finally waking up to it too. Canada does not officially have a fusion program, but for a relatively small country, they have invested a good amount into GF. The rest though seems to be forever stuck in ITER- land.

Meh... IIRC, TE is aiming for >20 Tesla fields, not just 6 to 7. So the author is already off the mark with that one. And 200 MWe is not exactly "tiny". It is a commercially relevant scale. Whether Tokamak Energy will be commercially successful depends on the final plant configuration. Personally, I am not sure what that will look like, but I am sure they have thought about this and have planned for this. I mean, you have to write a business plan to attract investors...

Very cool! If they have the coils in 2022, then they will be a long way towards the break even capable prototype. We might even see it earlier than 2025. Fingers crossed!
