The Presidents Council of Advisors on Science and Technology - PCAST

Post by bennmann »

Nuclear fusion industry organization had some very interesting comments for the Presidents Council of Advisors on Science and Technology on the white house YouTube channel:

I did not make time stamp notes, however PCAST also accepts comments from the general public for these sessions

It would be cool if one of the retirees here gave it a little time to speak on some topics from the recent chains in this forum.

OMG and of course Krivit had to raise his ugly head again. He is very anti nuclear fusion. He just insists on the Tritium thing. It is really not that big of an issue. For one, several concepts do not even burn Tritium.
Second, if the layout is not a Tokamak, the blanket can be much thicker and thus more Lithium will get hit by neutrons.
Third, you can run a fusion reactor on just Deuterium and breed Tritium that way. With smaller designs, that is a matter of days.
Fourth, Lithium production has greatly increased already and when the need arises, we can get all the Lithium 6 that we need (and some reactor designs can operate with natural lithium).
