Paper on non Maxwellian electron confinement virtual well

Post by D Tibbets »

I came across this link while searching for ETW data. It is a paper describing a Penning Trap design with beamed electrons that shows electron traping, maintainance of nonMaxwellian distribution of those electrons for significant times, an apparently virtual cathode- potential well formation. It is by several authors from LANL. No mention of Bussard or the Polywell. It provides independent information consistant with some of Bussard's claims (at least by my initial reading). I don't know if this paper has been referenced here befor.

Another interesting article I found while doing a Google search.

It describes favorable and unfavorable magnetic field line curves and thier way of addressing them. Sounds like another way of potentially getting a benificial effect like the Wiffleball. It's interesting that I did not find recent articles or references to the machine.
