Hello People,

I have cranked out my ancient P3 laptop to have a look at Vizimag, a 2D (possibly 3D) magnetic field finite element modeller which produces rather cool renders of magnetic fields.

There was a question on the forum about magnetic fields around various shaped coils, and this bit of software has helped me visualise the fields quite well.

Anyone else had a look at it? Dr. Mike, have you seen this? Any thoughts?

Yes it takes a while on the P3 to do a 400 x 400 mesh, but that's OK. I can think while it's thinking.

I think I did look at it once. As a stubborn old fart, I like writing my own code so I can fix the bugs. It drives me bonkers when I try to do something and can't, so by writing my own code I make it happen or realize it is too darn hard.

I also looked at VisIt which is another visualization tool. It was really difficult to make it do anything useful for my purposes, and it didn't run under linux at the time.

Creating the 3D data is one problem. Making that data easy to view is another. The first is easy for me, the second is harder.
