Obama Care Will Trip Us Into Recession
I have a very close friend who is a staunch Democrat and a Met Life Agent. My friend is of the opinion that ObamaCare will trip us into recession.

Deeper recession.
Re: Obama Care Will Trip Us Into Recession
I don't think we have begun to see the damage that the ACA will do. It's going to be all bad and the ramifications are just beginning to be felt. This is what happens when a group of people handwave something into existing and don't care about the consequences when they do it.

And in 2014 and 2016 the talking points will be 'You've never had it better! Democrats CARE about you! Let them keep making your life BETTER! Vote Democrat in 2014, and Hillary (God help us) in 2016!"
But the trick is, politicians DON'T care about 'you' as an individual. They care about getting reelected, but short-term gain rates real high and long-term success of the country... well, that's not important as long as they can keep power to the next election.
And the real difference between Republicans and Democrats is that Democrats will willingly lie because they believe their supporters are stupid and gullible. Republicans will lie, but not so much because they know their supporters aren't nearly as gullible.
In the mean time, they'll keep on passing laws, rules and regulations to 'help' the country - when what they really need to do is roll the regulatory environment back to about 2002 or so. More laws don't equal a better country - but when you've got an entire city and culture within it dedicated to making and passing laws, you've got a big problem.
I think we're getting dangerously close to a point where the states are going to start rejecting the dictates from Washington - take a look at the latest silliness from the EPA with fire hydrants. Have we really gotten to a point where the EPA is so concerned with lead in low PPM concentrations that they need to pass new rules about it?
Doesn't this show how the EPA has effectively worked themselves out of a job?
It might indeed take a hard crash to expose the problems to a point where even the Low Information Voter is repulsed by what the government will do to them.
But then again, there always seems to be a certain psychological subset that really gets off on being abused...

From my view the Republicans are just as gullible. But the areas of gullibility are different.

The nation’s richest counties have for the last few years been concentrated in the Washington suburbs. Median annual household income in Loudoun County is $115,574. The latest data shows that four of the top 10 richest counties are in Washington’s Virginia suburbs with a fifth, Howard County, Md., equidistant between Washington and Baltimore, also among the nation’s 10 wealthiest.
Re: Obama Care Will Trip Us Into Recession
Oddly, I'm reminded of the 'Hunger Games' series of novels.
You have a Capitol City, where the rich reside and dictate to all outside it.
You have the various Districts, where everyone else lives - and provides the materials and food (apparently gratis) for Capitol City to live on.
Now we're getting the professional politicians demonstrating that they're flippin' useless and pretty much ignorant when it comes to anything in the real world - and we're supposed to just let them decide every aspect of our lives for us, because we're helpless without their assistance.
And they can't NOT pass new laws, rules, and regulations - otherwise how will they justify their existence? That would be asking them to deny their fundamental nature as meddling busybodies.

.
Given that the EPA shut down the only operating Lead smelter in the nation, perhaps their concern for the lead in the fire hydrants is more in regards to the possibility that it might be used as projectiles?

Closure of nation's last lead smelter won't hinder ammo production (Reprint)Diogenes wrote:Given that the EPA shut down the only operating Lead smelter in the nation, perhaps their concern for the lead in the fire hydrants is more in regards to the possibility that it might be used as projectiles?
MILLER: Obama’s EPA closing smelter will not affect ammunition supply
http://outdoorswithfrischkorn.blogspot. ... elter.html
Gun owners can rest easy about one aspect of President Obama’s agenda. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) decision to close the country’s last remaining lead smelter will not cause further ammunition shortages or higher costs.
Lawrence Keane is the senior vice president and general counsel for the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), which represents the ammunitions and firearms industry.
“Manufacturers use recycled lead to make ammunition. They don’t buy from smelters,” Mr. Keane told me Monday. “The EPA closing, which has been in the works for a while, will have no impact on production, supply or cost to the consumers.
Well we will see....the other shoe might drop.
