I have had differing thoughts on how to digest what has been said, 'officially' and from other sources. For the time, the adjusted response of semi-quarantining the possible secondary contacts should be sufficient to stop an outbreak. The issue is later when or if the total number of infected does not level off.
I noticed that the Hindu Times has a small article today that said that India should expect to see cases from time to time and that at this point India is not really prepared. This may all fizzle out and be a small paragraph in epidemiology, but I can't see what the true course will be at this time.
I am sorry to see our troops being sent to Africa, I don't think the guys signed up for such a mission. However, I don't see any other nation mobilizing, not China, not India, not Russia, etc. Cuba has sent medical personnel. Perhaps the story of who is chipping in will get illuminated in time.

What I find an amazing bit of irony is that CDC gives training courses to those medical personnel who go to West Africa to help out, more than 200 of them have died since June and they did not recommend limiting air travel for their own reasons. I'm sure we could have enabled military flights for medical people if CDC had recommended this, but they thought first about how their own people would get there and not at all about their main job, which is keeping Ebola from coming here.
I say fire half a dozen of them just to set a good example, starting with the guy at the top.

The problem with trying to isolate Ebola via travel bans is the modern food industry, locally grown probably isn't big enough to cover demand. Economies still need international trade to pay for things like food, even the medicine has to cover time zones. Globalization has backfired.

The US military shines when things like this happen. Send in a handful of wasp and America class and you can help out enormously. But you can't take stuff out without putting it in quarantine.
I'm not surprised no one else is helping. It is usually the US alone when it comes to humanitarian aid. Apart from what USG does, the private giving in the Us for disaster relief outweighs the rest of the planet combined.
Instead of real help though, we have this: http://allenbwest.com/2014/10/obamaland ... bola-czar/

Ah, but the only issue Obama has to face is a political one. He needs a political operative to keep the CDC director from firing 20 more rounds into his foot. More polish is needed on the porkies being told, too. Then there is the cover story that must be woven and sold to the press who are desperate to believe something makes sense. Yes, a political operative is just what is needed. Might even be able to spin this whole emergency into a political coup over the club footed Republicrats. Cynical me.

For those not paying attention, every one of the above mentioned departments has had an unresolved major embarrassment, if not outright scandal, during the tenure of king Barrycade the Putz.

And they left out the 4 big scandals at EPA.

I'm surprised illegal drug use and the Black Market cartels that support it aren't under control. Every other President starting with Nixon had them under control.Diogenes wrote:
Heck, in the 20s and 30s we even had alcohol under control.
In fact the US government has an unblemished record of substance control. If only similar methods had been applied to Ebola.
