See, now you went and ruined it Paperburn.
We could have called him Hipster all day long and he would have been proud.

The truly smart know how stupid they are. This guy has not a clue how stupid he is.

Maybe his cats know, and like true little socialists, they are taking him for everything they can.

It's all good. I am fairly certain he will continue to be an idiot.

So much so that I have started to wonder if he is a Sock Puppet. So who's would he be if it is true?
Sometimes his rants remind me of others we have seen. Makes me wonder just a bit.

Why would I have to do that?

Anyway I thought you were in favor of nuclear energy. You look like you're just trying to find something to fight about.

A hipster is someone who is smart enough to talk about philosophy, music, politics, art, etc. with you all day long, but not smart enough to see how big of a tool s/he is. The only sure fire way to tell if someone you're talking to is, in fact, a hipster is to ask them "are you a hipster?". If they respond no, and turn their casette player back on, you can be sure you're dealing with a hipster.
In other words, someone who's smarter than you.

Noted.

I have previously suggested that he might be a psychology student attempting to determine how much idiocy sane people can tolerate. He really does come across as if he is an artificial cartoon like character.

Asserts an actual-moron.

Atheism exist only because of the teaching of tolerance by the dominant religious groups. Were this Islam, or Ancient Rome or Greece, you would be executed for blasphemy.

"Smart" is not at all the word which comes to mind when I contemplate the antics of our new pet troll.

No, no, I disagree. I think we need new religion. No super magic daddies in the sky, no science denial, no bullshit, no "faith." Religion provides people with emotional support, particularly in hard times, like births, deaths, adolescent passages, marriages, and so forth. This is so universal that it occurs in all subspecies of humans. Even atheists still get married, and still die.

I think the part of religions that is a problem is a belief in personal gods. They just aren't there.

But that doesn't mean religion is bad or evil. It just means we've never found the right way to answer this emotional need of humans; we should work on that. And it won't come from fairy tales about what exists beyond the sky; we been there, there's nothing but space. It won't come from any kind of fairy tales. Science moves too fast. It has to be about what's inside us. There's no other answer that makes any sense. This has to be understood and fairy tales need to be marginalized before they kill us all.

I'm the lamest excuse for Christianity there is, but for the next two months while Tepco is unloading those spent fuel rods, I wouldn't turn away divine intervention. If you don't like Fukishima, there's always Chernobyl, but the bottom like for me is, worst case with global warming, 7 meter sea level rise over 100 years and people on the coast have to move inland a few miles. Worst case Fukishima, everybody in the norther hemisphere has to move to the southern hemisphere pronto.

We could go into refused FOI requests to the IPCC, (including climate model source code), or deleting web references to the MWP, or the climategate emails if you like, but for me the big kicker was in grade school in the 1960's. We were given a lesson by our principal that if nothing was done about air pollution, within 20 years all life on earth would be gone. When I told my parents about it they said the principal was exagerrating, and the next day when I told him what my parents told me, he took me to task for having even the slightest of doubts.

In high school it changed to the ice age threat, there were all these sci-fi novels in the library about it. Now it's warming, but in another 20 years, after the temperature has flatlined long enough to make everybody forget about it, they'll go back to the ice age threat again, and you will have 20,000 peer reviewed papers to back it up.

This indicates your hysteria. The two are incomparable.

Chernobyl was an inherently unsafe design. Fukushima was not, but it was not correctly maintained, and the disaster it caused is far smaller. It's still a catastrophe, but it's not the fault of the design; they didn't maintain it correctly. Having had to fix a lot of servers the owners didn't bother to maintain, and tell them at the end they were going to have to pay us because it wasn't our fault, they're responsible for their servers, I know this situation extremely well. You have to comply with the manufacturer's instructions or the manufacturer has no liability.

Also, the Soviets made Chernobyl; they never admitted civil liability for their screwup. GE made Fukushima, but the Japanese government didn't make TEPCO maintain it, so the Japanese government is liable. Not TEPCO, not the US, not GE, not anyone else. The Japanese ministers should be committing seppuku to atone.
