Killer robots a small step away and must be outlawed, says top UN official
Killer robots programmed to open fire without human control are just a “small step” from the battlefield and military powers should agree to outlaw them, a top United Nations official has said.
Now who could have seen this coming? Oh, and by the way UN, you might as well just give up on that idea. If something works, and works effectively, people are going to use it whether you like it or not.

Isn't focused or just plain omni EMP feasible for DYI nowadays? If technologically-empowered humans (eg TSA, etc) fail to detect a determined individual's guerilla tactics, robots sure as hell will too. Good luck herding sheep with lethal telepathic powers. Esp. if your life is literally worthless - ie as a robot "shepherd".

Army’s New Laser Cannon Blasts Drones Out of the Sky, Even in Fog
Boeing is building a laser cannon for the U.S. Army, and the new weapon has now proved it will be as capable at sea as on land. The High Energy Laser Mobile Demonstrator (HEL MD)—basically a high-energy laser mounted on top of a big truck—was successfully used to blast some UAV drones and 60mm mortars out of the Florida sky earlier this year, Boeing announced Thursday.
The robot, presented at IROS Chicago earlier this month, has a video camera built into its "face", with software built in for runway detection and other visual cues. The rest of the buttons, sticks and switches allow the robot to control throttle, braking pitch, yaw, altitude, velocity, and direction, information is fed to the robot directly via wired inputs.
