If polywell fusion is developed, in what ways will the world change for better or worse? Discuss.

What results from WB-7 would result in maximum funding for any follow ups.

How to get Maximum funding for a follow up to WB-7

Post by Barry Kirk »

When the results of WB-7 are published. There could be a follow up project. I'm wondering what results from the report would provide the maximum funding for any follow up projects.

Dr Nebel said he wants to build a 100MW approx. 160cm coil device. That can prove scaling.

3 issues.

1) Scaling
2) Carburetor
3) Dodec

The Nuances within any report on WB-7, likely will dictate the direction of the next step. Not knowing that, I cant answer the poll.
I like the p-B11 resonance peak at 50 KV acceleration. In2 years we'll know.

The reason for the poll and call me cynical, is this.

Tokomaks have been getting billions of dollars in funding for 20+ years and we still don't have a net power production machine.

And I don't know that anyone has yet proved that a net power production machine that is cost competitive is possible.

So, it's not impossible that negative results from Nebel's team could result in research dollars being pumped in.

My vote is: we won't know enough to say till WB-100 is attempted.
n*kBolt*Te = B**2/(2*mu0) and B^.25 loss scaling? Or not so much? Hopefully we'll know soon...
