To rework WB-8 to do what was done with MiniB would essentially require a rebuild. It would be more better to go ground up.While they've gotten some fusion from WB-4 onward, the only machine believed to have hit high beta is WB-mini
While WB-8 did not do what was wanted, in doing so it provided a lot of knowledge. That knowledge was then applied to MiniB, which then did more than was expected. This is how science can work sometimes.
What is understood now, leveraging previous work, all the way up to MiniB, and with post MiniB sims, is really cool stuff. Like I said before, this is essentially down to getting the answer on one last question. And, if that answer supports, then, from a theory perspective, there would be no more known reasons why it couldn't work. The last step would be to put the two functions together in a composite machine, and demonstrate.
Confinement (proven) + Heating/Well (not proven) = Eureka
That said, confinement needs to be REALLY good... and it is within the range of plausible at this point...
Soo... Heating, here we come...
