Realta Fusion - Mirrors with HTS end plugging - another startup
Re: Realta Fusion - Mirrors with HTS end plugging - another startup
Regarding Polywell. To the best of my (limited) understanding Horne Technologies has been pursuing a Polywell design?

Yes, but they didn't disclose much till now.

Another disappointment! Seemingly bad news:

WHAM generated its first plasma in July 2024, but exhibited relatively short confinement times. To address this issue and better predict device performance, Realta is developing and validating computational models of plasma particle behavior to be incorporated into the RealTwin™ platform, which creates a digital twin capable of simulating the entire device.

I found this also:

The simulation showed that by introducing tactics to control the instability, WHAM could confine plasma for around 100 microseconds. Though this number is still lower than the “ideal” 0.1 to 0.2 seconds of confinement time, the researchers remain hopeful that simulating more control methods will allow them to close the gap.
