The polywell powerplant design?

If polywell fusion is developed, in what ways will the world change for better or worse? Discuss.

The polywell powerplant design?

Post by vernes »

The reactor plant, what would it need to have?
How bulky would the complex have to be?
Can we make the whole complex look like something from the year 3000?

Sleek, low maintainance? Able to run for month without any interactions.
Modular design, moron-proof.

I remember seeing some images around here describing the possible size a reactor building would have to be.

Try the bottom half of this site:

The EMC linked article crashed my computer, but this worked.

Thanks for the link.

Well, I found the design proposed in that document very functional.

And boring.

Surely something more interesting is possible?

World's first powerplant using fusion should not be a concrete box.

Why not?

It' functional, it's cheap and it's all what is needed.
First fusion power will not need any fancy design to ensure it's presence in history books, it will just need to work.

At IEC Fusion Tech I proposed an 8 sided concrete box. But I may change my mind and go with 6. Or 10.

I haven't figured out how to do a subspace manifold. The math is daunting and it would be difficult to find a construction company with the requisite experience.

I like it! 8) Too bad no one else around here seems to get the joke!
More progress has been made by bending metal than any other method...
