I have been waited to spread this news.
Carl Greninger, in Federal Way Washington runs a fusor in his home. He has collaborated with teachers, students and pairents to run a high school program for teens. Kids, come over every Friday to take classes on Nuclear physics, fission and fusion. After this, they conduct nuclear fusion research on Carl's fusor.
Since starting the program in 2010, the northwest nuclear consortium has collectively won 410,000 dollars in college scholarships (according to Carl). The group just came second (in physics category) at intel international science and engineering fair.
On Tuesday, May 6th the NWNC held a meeting of the American Nuclear Society (the Puget sound chapter). There was a live demonstration and presentations by the teens about their fusion research. Folks from Boeing and Microsoft were in attendance.
