If you go on record, arguing that law enforcement causes violent crime, how can anyone ever take anything you say seriously?MSimon wrote:Reduce the enforcement in those neighborhoods and violence in those places goes down.

If you don't remember how Alcohol Prohibition worked how can anyone believe you have a brain?GIThruster wrote:If you go on record, arguing that law enforcement causes violent crime, how can anyone ever take anything you say seriously?MSimon wrote:Reduce the enforcement in those neighborhoods and violence in those places goes down.
On top of that the Police Chief said it. If you can't trust the police.... Heh.
And worse for you. These police officers http://www.leap.cc/about/why-legalize-drugs/ also say it.
And should you be interested this Police Captain says that as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8yYJ_oV6xk#t=14 He discusses alcohol prohibition to start.
The discussion of alcohol prohibition doesn't start until 3 and 1/2 minutes into this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfTY5Hw6wmE
Police Captain explains how Drug Prohibition works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDCf-Et2_Mc
So I take it you favor the war on the poor, the young, and Blacks and mass murder of the sick to prosecute your war. What a fine exemplar of humanity you are. You should be very proud not only of your lack of brains but also your lack of morals. Are you a typical Republican?
It is interesting that the party claiming the mantle of morality can be so immoral. But it is nothing new. The same Party supported Alcohol Prohibition in the election of 1932. It lost.

GT,
Now there is a point missed by a mile, no. It is law enforcement of drug laws that was virtually stopped. Now, if you had all that freed up time to put it into enforcing laws and freed up court dockets against stealing, mugging, other acts of violence... you figure it out.

The more laws you have the more enforcers you need. And pretty soon you have a police state.
Back before we had police we had sheriffs, magistrates and constables. And they generally didn't act on crime unless some one complained.
You got robbed? You complained. Defrauded? Complaint.
The whole idea of police as we have them today is unAmerican. In fact it was a British idea.
This article says that the American idea was ineffective: http://www.sagepub.com/upm-data/50819_ch_1.pdf And probably so. But it also greatly reduced the odds of a police state (enforcers) growing from the system. In fact our whole Constitution was a reaction against the police State the British tried to impose on America.
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.
We have lost our way.
