The deal is our brains are not computers. They are neural networks. You don't train them with math. You train them by painting pictures. Once you get the right picture (correlation) you pick the appropriate math.
BTW PSSC Physics was designed to put the right pictures in your brain and then give you the math to work out the details.
The test questions were similar to those Ben describes. In an Advanced Placement Physics class the tests were designed so that the average score was 50%. I monotonously got 100% (I did occasionally miss questions - very few are perfect).
Unfortunately PSSC Physics is out of vogue for high school. Pity.
