I think I'm going back to an earlier concept with six rings the victi...I mean, the customer assembles. Not so much constraint on size then. Thanks for getting me to think in another direction, again.

I could, but that would hide the very pretty curve of the Wiffleball edge inside the ring close approaches. I'm hoping for some nice lens effects with transparent materials.

@Giorgio, I deduce you have abandoned the printers, and for good reason, too! Hence, I won't be posting higher resolution files.
@Everyone else, I changed my mind, yet again, and stuck with the simpler approach:

FYI: This version's Wiffleball linear dimensions are 92% of the previous.
Now to find what it's going to cost.
EDIT: This much -
Pyramid_Base - Transparent Detail - $ 2.16
http://www.shapeways.com/model/326276/p ... tml?gid=mg
Bottom - Transparent Detail - $ 48.84
http://www.shapeways.com/model/326275/b ... tml?gid=mg
Top - Transparent Detail - $ 48.92
http://www.shapeways.com/model/326279/top.html?gid=mg
Rings_Five - Black Detail - $ 69.95
http://www.shapeways.com/model/326278/r ... tml?gid=mg
Ring - Black Detail - $ 13.98
http://www.shapeways.com/model/326277/ring.html?gid=mg
Total = $183.85
And I'll be applying my lovely discount! Bet Giorgio gets his before I get mine!
Edit, again: Maybe not. "Your order will be delivered on or before September, 16th"

And the Wiffleball with spherical hollow:

Scaled to fit with the other Wiffleball surface so you can mix and match.
EDIT:
Top_Hemispherical_Hollow - Transparent Detail - $ 67.14
http://www.shapeways.com/model/326312/t ... tml?gid=mg
Bottom_Hemispherical_Hollow - Transparent Detail - $ 67.06
http://www.shapeways.com/model/326310/b ... tml?gid=mg
I'm going to wait on these until I see the originals.

Larger gaps, thicker coils (use WB-8 picture as a guide).
Restore the bottom "cusp", since it will then clear the table.
Make the walls of the clear "plasma" shell thicker.
Fill the hollow space with transparent "Dayglo" or similar fluorescent plastic and place the entire assembly on a UV light table for a cool glowing plasma effect.
There are also phosphorescent (glow-in-the-dark) versions of Dayglo, for contemplating plasma dynamics as one falls asleep.

The same one I posted upthread:rjaypeters wrote:@ DeltaV: I can do most of this list (I don't have access to fluorescent plastic but fluorescent paint might be an aftermarket option), but I don't know to what picture of WB-8 you refer. URL?

No Dayglo, rats.
Maybe use http://www.shapeways.com/materials/frosted_detail for the "plasma" with a small, bright LED in the center?
